Taking a Break From Jimmy D. Brown

I was just looking through some old pictures of my kids on the computer when I came across this one. I recommend Jimmy D. Brown’s List and Traffic membership site all the time, but here is actual proof that I’m a member myself. Here I am taking a break while I feed my son Joey.

I know I look pretty scary in the picture, so please don’t email me saying you’ve been traumetized from looking at it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Search Engine Optimization - Important SEO tip you don’t want to miss

A quick homework assignment for you to do to improve your search engine rankings.

Take a look at your website page titles.

Think of some optional titles and play around with them. Change it tonight, then in about 24-36 hours check your rankings to see if there is any difference. If its good, then keep tweaking to get it even better. If its bad, then make another change and check those results.

Note: When I say title, I don’t mean the actual name of your page. I’m talking about the header tags. This is the title that comes up in the title bar of your browser window.

When you’re thinking of a title, make sure the most important words are close to the beginning. For example:

My home page for one of my websites was titled “Baby Tips” for the longest time. I started testing different headlines, and once I changed it to “Baby Tips - Parenting Advice for Babies and Toddlers”, I moved up three spots in Google.

A good way to keep track of how your results are doing is to write everything down in a note book. There are some decent tools online that you can use to check your rankings, but I’d rather spend the extra time and work to document everything, including each change that I make. This helps me see a pattern over time to realize what works and what works better.

By doing this, I’ve gone from having pages that aren’t indexed to pages in the top 5 results in Google.

So do yourself and your website a favor and take a few minutes tonight to make some changes to your title tags. Some other on-site search engine optimization methods you can do are playing with keyword density and adding content.

By adding one paragraph to my home page, I jumped from the bottom of the second page in Google to the number 5 listing. So while building links and content are important, on-site optimization is very important as well.
