Top 12 Ways to Piss Off Your Fellow Internet Marketers

March 26th, 2007

1. Sign up for their newsletter, then turn around and use their email address to spam them with your own website and products.

2. Publish their articles from directories like EzineArticles, but don’t make their URL’s clickable, or tag them with “nofollow”. Better yet, don’t include their resource box at all and alter the content enough to make it look like crap, but leave their name intact.

3. Approach someone with a joint venture request, but make sure you don’t have any material ready when they accept your offer.

4. Blog about them and slander their name, but provide completely false information so that everyone thinks they’ve done something that they really haven’t.

5. Purchase their product, then turn around and sell the rehashed version for half the price.

6. Label their newsletters as spam instead of deleting them, even when you’ve verified your email address with their double opt-in service.

7. Sign up for their service or purchase their ebook, then ask for your money back after you’ve used it or copied the information. Do this especially if you really liked the product.

8. Post with other people’s usernames in forums and say really horribly stupid things.

9. Visit your competitor’s sites and click all of their Adsense ads to get them banned.

10. Rip off someone else’s content and design for your own website, then have the balls to ask for a backlink from them.

11. Post nasty comments on their blogs and do everything you can to discredit them (even if they don’t deserve it).

12. Purchase an affiliate product through someone’s link, but don’t forget to take off their affiliate ID from the address bar before clicking the checkout button.

Phew! That sure WOULD piss off your fellow marketers - LOL!

I’ve got one — go to your direct competitors forum and totally spam all their topics with one-liners being sure to use a really long obnoxious sig… but mainly just say hi to about 100 new members with no good, spiderable or helpful content ;-) Ummm - there, glad I got that off my chest!

I’ve never run across your blog before Cassie - I like it. Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks Lori, yes that’s another annoying thing I forgot to mention, spamming the forums. (And I think that posting one-liners like “good post” or “lol” should be included as spam since they’re just padding their posts to increase link exposure).

I’m on my way over to visit your blog :)
