Yeah, it can be a little overwhelming if you type very fast…but personally, I like to type a little slowly. Just so I can savor the thought of being an old-time news reporter. You know, typing away at that late breaking story of the century type deal. heh.

I find that it really helps to get my imagination and creative juices flowing. Plus, it’s just so much darn fun.

@Chris – That’s annoying and cool at the same time! I type so fast that it’s a constant sound but it sounds cool when I type really slow. Can’t wait until my boyfriend gets home to see his reaction when he starts typing. Hehe.

I agree Chris, it is a pretty antiquated practice, but some clients do still ask to have their sites designed in web safe colors whether they really need to or not.

I really like that pixie program. I just downloaded it. I can see it being extremely useful. Thanks!

The use of web-safe colors is an antiquated practice. In a related topic, the best tool I have found for color sampling is called pixie. It’s by a small app development company named Nattyware. link: http://www.nattyware.com

I think it’s a bit like designing for resolutions larger than 800×600. Most people are using at least a 1024×768 resolution but there are still some users who aren’t. I just ran across the color issue a few weeks ago actually so if you really want to be on the safe side, stick to web safe colors. Even though most computers aren’t using 8-bit graphic cards anymore, people who are designing for mobile devices may need to reconsider using web safe colors as well.

The web safe colors are pretty poopy and limited though so if you want to design a kickass website, might as well go crazy!

I’m just learning graphic design and I’ve been told you don’t need to use web safe colors anymore unless the website you are designing asks for it. But thank you, this is a nice thing to have handy specially for someone like me who is new to graphic design.

I don’t dabble in any web design except my own, but I’m wondering if web safe colors are still really necessary? What percentage of surfers have a monitor that only displays 256 colors any more? I’m curious if anyone has any thoughts on that.
